Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve and St Lucia 3 day Safari Tour 1-3 December 2012 - Tim Brown Tours

Shelldon and Myself collected our clients from Umkomaas and began our epic journey to Hlluhluwe Umfolozi which took us 4 hours.

It was very interesting as nobody in my vehicle spoke English only Italian so lots of talking and hoping something was understood with the waving of my hands everywhere…

We entered the Southern gate Nyalazi and had some pot luck as we saw 3 lions resting 30 meters off the road within minutes of arriving.

A few moments later it was buffalo and Elephant I was beginning to think it was a Zoo.

We eventually arrived at Hilltop camp in Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve and sat down for some lunch which was lovely. We then arranged check in and game drives before we could rest for 30 minutes. We went out to see what we could find and we found a Male lion on a buffalo kill aswell as mating Rhinos!!! wow what a day.

Dinner at 8pm was great and clients chatted amongst themselves in Italian…

Early morning as I woke at 03:50 for some reason and took the clients to the open vehicle by 05:00 am. Then it was time for some breakfast and back out into the bush after. We spend a few hours out there viewing loads again including the lions on a kill.

After lunch we decided to go back out and look for elephants which we found but we also found a Hyena which was carrying a carcass which he stole from the African wild dogs and in all this madness we spotted 2 cheetahs resting 100 meters from the road. Later we found the dogs, my goodness what an insane day. After all of this we had dinner an new a chap who said “today was the worst day for sightings in the 20 years he has been coming here” – my thoughts -(idiot)

What an amazing day with pictures to prove it.

The following morning we took the clients out for a final spin and really didnt have that much luck but it was still lovely. Later after breakfast and packing the trailor we headed to Lake St Lucia(Isimangeliso wetland park) for the 2 hour boat cruise to view hippos and crocodiles.

Amazing as they all enjoyed it.

The it was time to head to the airport to say fair-well.
