Sani Pass Day Safari Tour 23/8/12 - Tim Brown Tours

What a great day having a day to recover after my Hluhluwe Umfolozi Day Tour we headed up to the mountains where yes there was still some snow!

Having a very misty drive up from Zimbali(Durban area) we arrived before 9am for the beginning of long but worth while day up into Lesotho over Sani Pass Built in the 50’s to enable trade of wool and supplies between South Africa and Lesotho.

It was the most beautiful drive up albeit a little bumpy which we were expecting.

We stopped at 2874 meters above sea level where we had lunch at the highest pub in Africa.

After Lunch we visited a Basutho Village where we entered the homes and purchased souvenirs and made a small donation to these very pour people.

We were also fortunate enough to meet a Basutho Boy on horse back which was more than happy to have his photo taken. There was also a strange character which walks 2 km down the pass and back fetching wood he finds and carries it back to the village to sell to the locals. This was amazing.

What a great day and the Gujral family really enjoyed the experience as I did too.
