Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve – Durban Day Safari Tour 22 November 2013

Hluhluwe Umfolozi Day Safari Tour 22 November 2013

This was an amazing Durban day Safari Tour even if I say so myself.

We had a slow start and saw Only Impala, then we got going it was a Hyena which was heading to a carcass of what looked like an impala which had been eaten by Lions. Sadly the Lions moved into the thick bush.

As we went on we saw a big crocodile in the Umfolozi river at the bridge crossing and Rhino as we went on.

After Mpila camp we hit it big and spotted 1 lioness under a tree we drove round and found 2 other and a young male hiding in a thicket. They all got up and walked to the one lioness under the tree and fell asleep.

We then found Buffalo, Giraffe and Zebra before stopping at Mpafa hide here we found 2 Bull elephant strangely eating Rubber Euphorbia a toxic plant. Ellies have a bad digestive system anyway so it was probably to help with a stomach ailment.

We drove back to the Lions and they were still sleeping but later found another Lioness sleeping.

It was time for lunch and a rest so we headed to centenary center for lunch.

A fast lunch and back out as the clients wanted to see Elephants with babies eish.

We were lucky and found 4 different herds of Elephant I thought it was Christmas already lol.

Great day, later it was buffalo and Rhino before heading back to Durban.

Tourism has always been the ever-growing side to our economy. But since the Corona/Covid-19 pandemic hit our shores in South Africa, it has been totally obliterated.

Returning to our roots to learn how to live a healthy life. There is always some new diet out there or new “health” product which is better than our hard to avoid processed options we most commonly eat.

Lions Eyes

In the African bush indeed are the seen ~ and often unseen animal interactions.  One of the animal interactions we don’t see often is Rhino fighting each other for dominance. Either for the right to hold territory and/or to mate with females.
