Durban Day Safari
It was another lovely day in Durban where we met our clients and began our adventure up the coast to the famous Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve. This reserve is a Big 5 and Malaria-free safari park. We love to take our clients here on our Durban safaris.After the initial meet and greet we departed for the day tour. We arrived at the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve after 2.5 hours. We spotted Zebra next to the road within a minute of entering!

After 5-10 minutes we moved on and spotted Rhino. Wildebeest and Zebra on either side or the road. I have no idea how long we spent here but our safari from Durban was heating up! Read on for more of our exciting Safari.
Recent African safaris from Durban
We have had some great success on our recent African safaris from Durban over the past couple of months. These sightings range from animals on the road crossing in front of our vehicle, Elephants sleeping, Cheetah hunting, Wild Dogs hunting on the road, Leopard sleeping, Black Rhino browsing, Wildebeest drinking, Lion drinking and happy clients on safari!

After collecting my clients from their hotel in Durban we headed off to the world famous Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve where we would begin our safari.
We are blessed with good weather in Durban and it only get warmer on route to Hluhluwe game reserve. It was here that we entered and began our safari looking for as many of the Big 5 as possible.
Tala half day tour
Our Tala half day tour from Durban began in the city of Umhlanga. Once we heading off we got chatting about the history of Durban, KwaZulu Natal and South Africa before we arrived at Tala game reserve.
The history is the build up to a great Durban tour and it is always interesting to answer questions on my beautiful country considering how much has happened here and what we have managed to come through.
Hluhluwe Day Safari
We began our Hluhluwe day safari bright and early as you would when going on an African safari tour! It was a lovely day as it had rained the night before so it was a little cooler today so we could enjoy the safari away from the extreme summer heat!
On route to the Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve I covered some of the interesting history of Durban, KwaZulu Natal and South Africa as well as the population groups and how they came to be here. It also ended up with some politics which you really should never discuss with your clients but if they are happy with hearing your opinion then it is fine.

Durban tours
When visiting Durban it is always a good idea to make sure you do one of our amazing Durban Tours.
It was a warm morning in Durban for our Durban tour to Tala game reserve and the Valley of 1000 Hills for a Zulu cultural village visit.
My clients were aboard the Sun Princess and we began once they disembarked with a briefing on what was to be expected for the day.
Durban safari tours
Our Big 5 Durban safari tour began in Durban and we headed to the Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve stopping at a Cheetah sanctuary to interact with some Endangered big cats.
Once we finished up we entered into Hluhluwe game reserve and made our way slowly to Hilltop camp, on route spotting some Zebra fighting.
South African Safari
Our South African safari to Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve began in Durban. After collecting my clients we headed into Zululand and our safari began with a visit to a Cat rehabilitation center.
After some amazing interaction with four endangered species of cat we departed for Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve where we would try to find as many of the Big 5 animals as we could. We were very luck and the first animal we saw close was 2 Lions about 25 meters off the road.
South Africa Safari Durban
Our South Africa safari began in Durban where I collected my clients and we began the drive to Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve which is malaria free and home to the big 5.
It would be a South Africa safari that we would not forget!
We began with Cheetah interaction in Hluhluwe and then made our way into the Hluhluwe game reserve. It was not long and our African safari tour began to unfold before us.
Our first sighting was of Zebra inside 2 minutes and these two one a male and the other a female were resting their head on each others backs.
African Safari From Durban
Our African safari from Durban began near to the big city and we began our journey to Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve , Africa’s Oldest protected area!
I covered the history of this famous national park and the history of the Durban and surrounding areas before we arrived at Hluhluwe game reserve.
We tried our best in the heat to find Lions but it was to no avail as they were resting in a riverbed.
We had great other sightings of 3 of the Big 5, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephants.
First though we spotted some Zebra.
Durban safari tours
After collecting my clients who were returning to South Africa from Monaco to visit family for the festive season, we headed off to Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve where we conduct most of our Durban Safari Tours.
We chatted about the history of Durban and South African before arriving at Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve and beginning our Durban Safari to see what animals we could find.
The first day of our Durban Safari turned out to be good as we began with lots on Impala and some Buffalo.
Drakensberg Mountains Tour
We began our Drakensberg tour in Pietermaritzberg and headed straight for South Africa’s second proclaimed World heritage site.
We arrived before around midday and settled in for some lunch and then a visit to the San Rock art center on site of the Didima resort where we would spend the next couple of nights.
The Museum as usual was great and was very interesting with lots of great items on display. The Drakensberg history goes back a long time as does that of the San bushmen.
African Safari Tour
Our African safari tours can be done from Durban with Tim Brown Tours and it was here where I collected my clients for this 4 day safari.
We could begin by visiting the Fort Nongqayi Museum in Eshowe which features the Wheel chair of King Mpande a half brother to the famous King Shaka of the Zulu Nation. It also features John Dunns furniture, Zulu crafts and a Church showing off the missionary work of the Norwegians in the area!
Durban Safari Tour with Tim Brown Tours
Our Durban safari tour began in Durban city where I collected my clients for their safari experience with Tim Brown Tours. We headed up to Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve on route stopping at a Cat rehabilitation center for interaction with Cheetah, Serval, Caracal and African Wild cat hands on!
There is no point in coming to Africa and not experiencing an African safari! South Africa is as good a place to begin with a safari as we are home to the oldest game reserve in Africa, Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve established in 1895.
On route to this majestic national park home to the Big 5, I always cover this history of South Africa as it ties so well into our Safari experience.
