Hluhluwe Umfolozi, Cat Rehab and St Lucia 3 day Safari Tour 25-27 June 2013

Hluhluwe Umfolozi, Cat Rehab and St Lucia 3 day Safari Tour 25-27 June 2013

Day 1 began in Durban/Umhlanga where I collected my clients from there hotel and we started the drive up to the Cat rehab center, On route I covered the History of the area and before you knew it we had arrived.

My clients loved the Cat Tour particularly the interacting with the Cheetah.

We then departed for Hluhluwe umfolozi and were lucky to find some Elephant on the otherside of the Hluhluwe River grazing on the reeds.

We also spotted Giraffe, Buffalo, Nyala, warthog and a few other species.

We took a short break to get some lunch and check in before heading out again where we were super luck to see a Lioness with a couple of very small cubs trying to move them to a new den sight. Sadly the other vehicles got way to close with engines running and we didnt get a photo but the memory remains.

Dinner was great and we decided to head out after breakfast the next day another beautiful sunny day in Africa.

We found Rhino, Giraffe and returned to an abandoned carcass of a Bush pig we found the evening before and it was snatched up but the hyenas judging by the tracks.

The best part of this was that we found the African Wilds dogs after they had just killed a Red Duiker(endangered species) before the research team. This is such fun for me… The Duikers head was still  being munched on by the one dog and we saw a total of 5 Wild dogs the most endangered carnivore in africa.

We were all really happy heading back for breakfast.

We met later for a couple of hours before the night drive and added one or two things to the growing list.

Dinner was great.

Day 3 we met for breakfast and check out before a final game drive where we sadly didnt get cats but it was raining and this didnt really help much.

St Lucia was our next stop and we had a great boat cruise apart from some monkey throwing food into the Estuary. I had to have a few words with there guide and it got sorted out…

After this it was Time for our return and we stopped for lunch along the way before arriving in Umhlanga Durban.
