We started this memorable Tour with Ken Gillings as our guide who is well known in the field of Battles and Wars particularly of Kwa-Zulu Natal and South Africa.
It is not often that as a young guide you have opportunities to learn from Specialist Battlefield guide who have spent there lives learning about the ins and outs of the Deep History our country has to offer.
The Tour began at the Old Fort in Durban which has been vandalized in parts but still has a massive amount of War monuments and Artillery which was used in many different parts of Durban History.
Ken Started of at a good place with a little Zulu Dynasty which helps us all as there has been confusion over the years in piecing together a Nations leaders who do not have a written history.
From there we wondered around the fort where Ken pointed out many Historic and interesting structures, monuments and Artillery.
After we were done there we moved onto Congella Park and a grave site for a few Boers in the middle of a parking lot which I must say was not very well maintained, overgrown etc.
After this we made our way to a Cemetery next to the Science museum a stone throw away from the Old Fort. This was interesting to not the exotic species of Tree which where in the gardens: Jacaranda, bottlebrush and something non of us could identify.
We returned to the Old Fort for snacks and others returned home with more than we had expected from Ken.
