Shakaland Safari/Tour 6/6/12

A great day visiting Shakaland, I must say its been months since Ive done this Tour and it was really excellent once again.

After collecting my clients from Durban for the Safari/Tour we headed up the north coast to made our way to Eshowe, Shakalands nearest Town.

The whole way I spoke of King Shakas Role in the Zulu Nation, his rise to King and his fall at the hand of his half brother Dingaan.

As some of us know he was a man with great intelligence and Wisdom beyond his time. The inventor, the Worrier, the Leader and a respected King to the Zulus even though he Slaughtered 7000 Zulus in 1827 when his mother died…

Anyway Shakaland itself touches on all the main Zulu ways of living and is a great cultural experience for anybody even those who think they know it all.

The dancing was a powerful display of the talents of the Zulu and brought great excitement to us all during the tour.

Lunch of course was more Traditionally Zulu with Pap and a Tomato based Sauce with Beef stew and a Chicken Curry. Lettuce, Spinach, rice and Potatoes etc.

I know I enjoyed the day and I’m sure my clients did as well.

We will be going to Hluhluwe Umfolozi tomorrow for the day, the oldest game reserve in Africa and home to Operation Rhino in the 1960’s.
