Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game reserve Day Safari Tour 15/2/13

After getting Back from Victoria falls the night before and having a good sleep I met my clients in Kwabonambi (2.5 hours from were I begun the day).

I was well impressed with my timing and arriving spot on 08:30 even though I had some traffic issues in the morning.

I dont usually collect my client in the middle of a Eucalyptus plantation but it was a lovely guest house!

After brief introductions we headed onward to Memorial gate where we stopped briefly for curio shopping and then entered just in time to catch a Territorial Male White Rhino marking his territory right next to the road! Great experience.

We also spotted some Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Warthogs, Wildebeest, impala, Monitor Lizard, Secretary Birds Buffalo and monkeys.

Sadly the Cats and Elephant were to elusive during the hot part of the day and we only got tracks, dung and broken branches on the road…

Over all I have to say it was a pretty good day as the only other Rhino we spotted was far from the road and it was just the top of his head and ears.

We stopped at Hilltop camp were we had lunch and relaxed before heading back out to find more animals.

We eventually got to the gate at 15:30 where we had our vehicle searched for Rhino horn which is common procedure now with the poaching crisis escalating.

A brief stop on the way back and a bit of traffic and we were back in Durban a bit after 18:30 where we said our farewells.

A good day in the African Bush.
