3 Day Hluhluwe Umfolozi Safari Tour and St Lucia, Cat Rehab 19-21 Feb 2013

After collecting my client from Durban city we heading up to the Nyalazi gate of Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve where we heading down south to look for cats. We were very lucky as up on a rocky outcrop was a Lioness with cubs hiding in the back somewhere. This was great as its so hard this time of year with the long grass to spot Lions even if they are a meter off the road.

We also came across 2 big Elephant Bulls which crossed the road next to us aswell and Buffalo mud wallowing and much other general game Giraffe, Zebra etc.

We Stopped for lunch and then continued out the memorial gate heading to the Cat rehab center for the 16:30 show.

The cat show was great as it was the feeding show so some great photos where to be had!

Dinner was great it was just us at the lodge the first night so the place to our selves.

Day 2 was an early morning as we took breakfast packs with us into the reserve and found some more animals including elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Hyena.

We stopped at the curio shop on the way out and just got back in time for a second cat show that the clients wanted to do at 10:30.

12:00 was lunch and at 3pm we headed back to the game reserve until it closed at 7pm.

Dinner was a busy one as 2 buses had pulled into the place so Buffet it was and it was not bad at all.

Next morning a quick breakfast and back to the game reserve for a few hours before heading to St Lucia, Isimangeliso Wetland park for a 2 hour boat cruise on the Estuary. We were a bit early so I took the clients to the mouth of the river and showed them what happened in 2007 and went over a few things on the area…

After the cruise it was time to return to Durban city and then home for me to prepare in the dark for the next tour.
