I collected my clients for there Durban City Tour which had already done a 3 Day Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve, Durban Safari Tour. Once we got going we covered more of the in depth History of Durban and I showed the clients along the Golden Mile(beach front).
We pasted Ushaka marine world a world renowned Aquarium and Marine Park before heading to Wilsons Warf and The Royal Durban Yacht Club Established in 1858.

At Wilsons Warf we boarded a small boat to have a look around the harbour of Durban which was a natural harbour discovered by Vasco Da Gama on Christmas Day of 1497. He then named it Rio de Natal(The Christmas River).

From the Boats Jetty we looked at some Pelicans before departing and looking at the Sugar Terminal where Durban Exports it Sugar all over the world.

South Africa does something weird as we export most of our sugar and import Sugar from Brasil for South Africans Larger consumption. So the larger bags of sugar in the supermarkets and the cheaper sugar is from Brasil.
The next point of interest was the Scrap metal yard in the harbour. Durban Exports all its scrap metal to India and China and they send us all there plastic toys….Lol.

We then spotted the container ships on the other side of the harbour!

The last major part to the harbour apart from the Fruit export section which I did not Picture if the Auto Exporter Ship. We produce Toyota vehicles in Durban and Merc C Class and export them around the world.

What is interesting about this picture of our Durban City Tour is that in the top left corner you can see a cylindrical section at the top of a building. This is one of around 30 revolving restaurants in the world!

The Royal Natal Yacht Club established in 1858 is on of the oldest clubs/buildings in Durban. It used to only allow White men to enter and also wouldnt allow women to enter its doors. I believe this has definitely changed now…

Durban Manor Hotel was built in 1901. This building is on route to the Dick King Statue where we would go next to learn about Dick Kings heroics in 1838-1842 in alerting the Grahamstown British commanding officer of the Dutchs’ attach on Durban City.

Dick King began his epic 960 km trek to Grahamstown with a Black fellow called Undongeni who could only last a couple days into the 10 day and 10 night mission which Dick King completed on his own. Reasons of Chaffing causing Undongeni to return to Durban.
As we departed the Dick King Statue we headed to the Botanical gardens in the Berea area a wealthy area of Durban. Here I showed the clients around the Indigenous and exotic plants that are on show in the Botanical gardens.

Once we were done in the gardens it was a visit to Florida road the Night life street of Durban full of bars, restaurants and Night Clubs. From her it was time to head to the Moses Mabida Stadium.

The Moses Mabida Stadium was built for the 2010 soccer World cup and was named after Moses due to his role in fighting against Apartheid pre 1960. In 1960 he was sent to exile, Moses Mabida was part of the MK( Mkhonto we Sizwe) – The armed Struggle. This began around 1960 after Nelson Mandela took an opportunity to begin this violent struggle when Chief Albert Lutuli left South Africa to collect his Noble Peace Prize in Oslo.

This was our last major stop on our Durban City Tour and we headed past the Casino back to the beach front where the clients would do a spot of shopping before heading home.
