Text to follow….
Day 1:
We began our Tour from King Shaka international Airport. Upon exiting the “Ribs of Shaka” it was a pleasure to miss the Toll going South!
During the drive to Shakaland – Historical place of Shaka Zulu and the Movie… I spoke of the History of the area and how the Zulu Nation came to be.
Arriving at Shakaland we rested prior to a hearty lunch and the afternoon tour of the Zulu Village/ Zulu Dancing.
Dinner followed.
Day 2:
Attended the morning show where I was brave enough to throw a Zulu Spear at an elephant skull 50 meters away showing why Shaka Zulu invented the “Assagai”…
Departing to Hluhluwe Protea hotel we also went to emdoneni to view the Cat feeding session and Cheetah interaction which was great.
Day 3
Departing Hluhluwe we entered the Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve to stay at Hilltop for 3 nights.
The experience driving for the first hour and a half was one of those moments as a guide where you hold your breath as there was just so much game which sometimes gives a false understanding at to what to expect for the rest of the tour…
Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra etc
A hearty buffet dinner where we discussed our experiences and this was really when the kid started to come out of there shell.
Day 4:
An early morning where we spent time looking intensively for animals with some success.
Lunch and back out into the bush.
Evening Game drive was with the parks guide where over dinner i was disappointed to hear that he had told my guests that an “old bull Buffalo’s horns eventually crush his brain” – Please note this is rubbish…
Day 5:
Early morning with breakfast packs and spent 7 hours in the morning going south with very little luck, we had drizzle for a lot of the day and this did not help spirits and the animals…
After 4 cups of coffee and lunch we decided to go out from 4pm till 6 pm.
We had some great sighting of a breeding herd of Elephant and Leopard Scat and track which were as fresh as can be but as the Leopards are in Hluhluwe umfolozi “skittish”. No luck in locating him as he entered a thicket and left only his tracks…
Dinner was great.
Day 6:
A later breakfast at 7:00 and a final game drive to see what we could find. Brilliant Elephant sighting and buffalo.
We then made our way our the park and to some craft markets “Ladies paradise”
Arriving in St Lucia for our 12 pm boat cruise the second half rained but was still a great success.
Hippos, 3 Crocs, Fish eagles, KingFishers etc
Lunch at Ocean basket was a must, from here onward to Durban in the rain!
A fantastic tour with a lovely family. “Chow Andea” – See you again young man! “Bueno” “Gracia”
