Hluhluwe Umfolozi 3 day Safari Tour and St Lucia 28 – 30 December 2012

So it has come to that time of the year when this will be my final blog post for Tim Brown Tours and Safaris for they year of 2012!

Its been a great year and Ive met some really nice people and of course got married.

So Back to business : This tour was a great one. I met my clients in Umdloti (Durban) and they were Norwegian which was a rare group of clients for me.

We headed for the game reserve Hluhluwe Umfolozi on route we covered a lot of history of the area just to let everyone know more of what this beautiful country South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Durban are all about.

Once we entered Hluhluwe Umfolozi it was pumping with game, a herd of Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Warthog the list goes on, We also spotted so great birds out there African Harrier hawk, Purple crested Taraco etc.

Lunch at Hilltop was needed and was great.

We then needed to speed off to Emdoneni for the cat show which the client enjoyed while I sorted rooms and luggage etc out.

We had a great dinner and it was very festive at emdoneni with Xmas music going the whole time. It was time for an early night for the kids and for me while a couple of my clients stayed up chatting with one another.

05:15 we were up and ready to go to hluhluwe game reserve. We had great sighting of Rhino and most of the other large herbivores just missing the cats this day. After a look in the curio shop at the gate it was already 10am so we headed back to get a little rest before lunch and the afternoon open vehicle game drive. Sadly no cats but everyone enjoyed it.

Dinner it was again and man that was great too! once again an early night for me and a slightly later start in the morning.

7 am breakfast and into hluhluwe umfolozi where finally we found 2 Lionesses hunting impala. Amazing but we had no time to stay long.

We needed to depart for St Lucia estuary which we did for a great 2 hour boat cruise. I was lucky to spot the Lions as I won a cold drink! yay.

After St Lucia we headed back home stopping for lunch and then arriving after 5pm in Umdloti. A great Tour.
