Tala Half Day Tour

Tala Half Day Tour

Tala Half Day Tour : I met the same clients off the Oceana Nautica and collected a repeat client from Durban for this Tala Half Day Tour. A Durban safari is always a great thing to do as we have so much choice in big and smaller game reserves.

It would be a half day tour jam packed with great sightings!

As we entered the Tala game reserve we spotted the Rhino being protected by the Anti-Poaching team and after a few minutes with them something caught my eye and it was a Black Backed Jackal. I was so excited I raced off to show my clients as you hardly ever see them.

We continued on back to the Rhino and also had Blessbok, Ostrich and Zebra before we could get back to the Rhino. It was one of those days at Tala game reserve.

We eventually got back to the Rhino at Tala and two of the Rhino stood up and it was such a great photo. You could see one Rhino with its horn as it normally is and the other who had been attacked a couple years ago with a horn which was regrowing after being hacked off by poachers.

This Rhino we saw on our Durban safari was lucky to survive the poaching indecent and the horn is growing back now. It is such an emotive picture!

Next we tried to get round to the lodge for a rest room break but keep spotting animals.

After these Water buck we spotted Eland laying down and later got one standing up for a better photo. The Eland is the largest Antelope in Africa weighing in at 800 off kilograms. Tala game reserve really is pumping with animals.

Our Durban safari in Tala game reserve continued. Giraffe! Wow, this was crazy we were able to see them right next to the road so we watched them on both sides!

We had a quick rest and a look at the craft market before going back to the Giraffe and then spotting lots of Impala with new born babies.

Our safari continued and we made our way to the Hippo hide to see the Hippos after all my clients having done a St Lucia day tour with me this seemed pointless but still worth a quick look.

We spotted about 5 Hippos at Tala game reserve.

We then made our way around for another look at the Rhino and some Zebra but before we could we spotted an endangered bird called the Blue Crane which is also our national bird. The best part was they had a little chick which I have never seen before at this size!

Wow – we then spotted the Zebras nice and close before we got back to the Rhino and this was amazing! We had had such a great half day that in the 3 hours at Tala game reserve we had really seen everything they had to see.

It was time to head back to Durban and drop off my clients after a great Tala half day tour from Durban.

We arrived back around lunch time in time for the ship before it set sail for Maputo.

All in all a great Durban half day tour.
